The Character of MEL

1.At low concentration (<0.1%), it should not need to be solubilized when added to the aqueous system. At high concentration, it may require a certain amount of solubilizing agent or need to further explore its dissolution process

2.At different temperatures (-20-100), the surface activity is relatively stable after treatment. When the pH is acidic and weakly alkaline, the critical micelle concentration is basically unchanged, and the surface activity retention and stability are better. When it is in a strong alkaline state (pH10), the critical micelle concentration has increased, the surface activity has decreased, but the solubility has become greater

 

The Function of MEL

1.Antioxidant and Repair.Takahashi studied the activities of three different configurations of MELs (MEL-A, MEL-B and MEL-C) in scavenging free radicals and superoxide anions,and found that these three components showed different antioxidant properties in vitro cell experiments.

2. Antibacterial Activity.The results showed that both Mel-A and Mel-B showed strong antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, while the inhibition effect on gram-negative bacteria and fungi was weak.Compared with sucrose and fatty acid sorbitol monoester, the minimum inhibitory concentration of MELs on gram-positive bacteria is significantly reduced, and the application has less toxic effect.

3.Induce Apoptosis and Differentiation of Cancer Cells.MEL-A and -B have a good inhibitory effect on leukemia cells and can induce differentiation and apoptosis of leukemia cells.

4.Other Effects.MELs can be used as gene carriers and drug delivery carriers, and can form thermodynamically stable vesicles.
